Essex, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire. And further by special arrangement.

We have over 10 years experience in behaviour management and modification and have enjoyed owning  various breeds of dog for over 15 years. We get particular satisfaction from helping dog owners get more enjoyment from their companions by being able to involve them in everyday life. We’d love to help you and your dog enjoy time at home, at meal times, overnight, in the car, on the lead, off-lead, around other dogs, and at dog friendly pubs.

Do you find yourself apologising  and saying things like ‘Oh he’s still only young’,  ‘she doesn’t like bicycles or people wearing hats’, ’she comes back when she is ready’ or ‘he doesn’t like certain breeds of dog’, ‘she’s jumping up because she’s so excited to see you’ or ‘he’s a rescue dog’?  Then we can help. How great would it be to never have to say these things? It’s such a great feeling when you get told you have a well behaved dog.

Or maybe you constantly have to put your shoes away so they don’t get chewed or played with, or you have to move food items to safety to prevent your dog taking them? We can help with this too.

Or you might just want to get off on the right foot or improve your dog handling skills.

Whatever your needs, we will teach you The Dependable Dog Training system so the whole family can get involved and have fun along the way. We want to teach you what to do so you are set up for a great future with your dog.

By training The Dependable Way you will learn how to approach or avoid all these issues and how to get more enjoyment with your dog at home and out and about.

The Dependable Dog Bespoke Programs

Problem Behaviour Programs or Improvers Programs.
From the minute Neil arrived in our home he put us at ease. He didn’t make us feel bad for our dogs behaviour, but after observing her, he simply explained how if we implemented a few ‘rules’ with our dog we would enjoy her more and she would feel more relaxed. On the first visit Neil didn’t overwhelm us, but gave us some simple commands to use with our dog and techniques to practise, he followed everything up in writing to make sure we wouldn’t forget and checks in regularly to see how it’s going. After just one session we felt more confident that training our dog is possible and we can do it. Thank you! Katharyn & Stretch the Miniature Dachshund

Really good value for money. We did the Basic package with Neil. Ella is still quite young and had no previous training, but after just an hour or two of training her Sit was much more steady and I knew how to get her staying in the Sit for longer periods of time. And she started paying much more attention to what I said. Much better focus and much better walking on the lead. We’re now moving onto more advanced things with Neil.

Jon & Ella, the Springer rescue

I have 5 rescue dogs all with varying personalities and issues.  The first thing I learnt was to stop hiding behind the fact they are rescues.  This is not an excuse for bad behaviour and spoiling them to make up for their previous lives only prolongs their anxiety, nerves and behaviours.  Recently I found Bear, a GSD, in Spain and I have been working with Neil on Bear’s anxiety issues and general obedience.  Bear has settled in well and we continue to work on his manners.  He’s doing well and we look forward to more training. I really like that Neil teaches me what to do and doesn’t encourage me to book lessons unnecessarily.

How we work.

We don’t believe in a ‘fix and go’ mentality. Dog training is ongoing. Whilst we don’t expect to be working with you for long on a 1:1 basis, we do realise it can be beneficial, and a whole lot of fun, to remain in contact. After our sessions you will be invited to join the Dependable Dog Community. This will include a closed Facebook Group where members can ask questions, share videos of their successes and talk about anything else related to dogs.

You and your dog can also attend our Workshops on various topics ranging from Recall Improvement, Dealing with Distractions to Dependable Dog Walking Etiquette, and many more.

This is a great way to keep growing your skills and developing your dog’s abilities.
